New Meat Thermometer Saves Grilling Heatand Guesswork
Lake Geneva, Wis.- Adding to its line of
innovative products for home cooks, Chaney Instrument Co. has developed a programmable meat thermometer
with a probe that can withstand the extreme temperatures of barbeque grills. The thermometer is making its
debut to the retail hardware market at the 2003 National Hardware Show in Chicago, in booth no. 20503, from
August 10-12.
The new Acu-Rite Programmable Meat Thermometer/Timer
allows backyard cooks to roast meat without opening the lid and losing valuable cooking heat while they test for
"doneness." They can also save their indoor oven thermometers for kitchen use, since grills get hotter than ovens
do and can melt regular thermometers.
The new thermometer features a probe connected to a
heat-resistant cord that can withstand temperatures up to 700° F. With the probe in the meat and the
monitor outside the grill, the thermometer makes grilling safer and more scientific. The user simply sets the
desired internal temperature before cooking, and an alarm sounds when the meat is ready. Since the thermometer
also doubles as a timer, backyard chefs can attend to other parts of the mealand time themwhile
remaining confident that their meat is cooking properly.
The new thermometer retails for $15.
