New Wireless Rain Gauge Makes Checking Totals a Dry Affair
Separate monitor allows users to keep track of rain without feeling a drop
Lake Geneva, Wis.- Keeping track of rainfall just got a lot more
convenient. The new Acu-Rite Wireless Rain Gauge from Chaney Instrument Co. catches rain outside, and displays the amount inside.
This useful device is making its debut at the 2003 National Hardware Show from August 10-12 in booth no. 20503.
The Acu-Rite Wireless Rain Gauge features a self-emptying collector
unit that users can set directly in the ground or mount on a fence rail or post. The receiver can go anywhere in the house
up to 300 feet away, either on a tabletop or hanging on a wall. In addition to measuring rainfalleither cumulatively up
to 99.9 inches, or storm by stormthe display shows whether it's currently raining heavily, lightly or not at all.

Not only can users stay dry while determining how much it rained,
they don't have to have a line of sight to the collection unit. They don't even need daylightthe display lights up
for reading in the dark.
Like other Chaney products, the gauge combines form and function
in a streamlined, userfriendly package. Finished in black and silver, the receiver features a 0.7" LCD display that
shows rain in either inches or millimeters. It also has a low-battery indicator for both units, a signal strength indicator,
and a rain-alert alarm.
The receiver unit requires 2 "AAA" batteries and the collector uses
2 "AA" batteries (not included). The collector measures 3" tall, 6 1/8" wide and 2 3/8" deep. The receiver is 2" tall,
3" wide and 1" deep. The Acu-Rite Wireless Rain Gauge retails for $34.99.
